Dow Chemical and DuPont Merger

The merger between Dow Chemical and DuPont was a significant event in the chemical industry, combining two major players to create a new entity with a diverse portfolio.  The merger was completed on August 31, 2017, and the combined company operated under the name DowDuPont. The merger aimed to create three independent, publicly  traded companies: Dow Inc. (materials science), DuPont de Nemours, Inc. (specialty products), and Corteva, Inc. (agricultural products).  This strategic move allowed each company to focus on its core business and compete more effectively in its respective market. 
The merger was valued at approximately $130 billion and was a response to the need for a more agile and competitive market presence.
